    Introduction

    The department, Industrial Engineering and Management, was founded in 1987. Three regular study programs enroll the daytime student and four extension study programs enroll the on-the-job student. The department currently employs 27 full time professors; most of them have the Ph. D. degree. The department is concerned with application of diverse engineering principles and management techniques to the design, improvement and maintenance of a high level of productivity for both manufacturing and service industries.

     

    Characteristics

    The department has directed their teaching towards computer-related fields in order to make students ready for the challenge in industrials, towards integrated manufacturing courses to make students are able to be engaged in analysis and implementation, towards capability of team-works to make students could cooperate with engineering technicians. All faculty members are engaged in their research projects and their research papers have been published in international journals.

     

    Curriculum and Facilities

    The courses offer student in pursuit of be an adequate Industrial Engineering through three main learning fields, production system, information system, and business management. Students can select one of the three main areas according to their individual preferences in accordance with their career plans. We stress professional theory courses and application problems to develop student’s management expertise and creation capability. The department has eight research laboratories to facilitate academic research and instruction. Every lab and research room is equipped with the best latest high-tech computers and laboratory equipment linked to academic networks within Taiwan and abroad. Furthermore, three study rooms and a conference hall, provide students with an excellent studying environment.
